  CHEDDAR   An ancient village that is not only famous for its cheese but home to the beautiful Cheddar gorge and caves. It lies with in a designated site of special scientific interest and an area of outstanding national beauty. You can visit the gorge and caves, the local cheese factory and the plentiful shops and tearooms it has to offer. Cheddar Gorge has been named the second greatest wonder in Britain and is home to Britain’s oldest skeleton, ‘Cheddar Man’, estimated to be over 9,000 years old.  Cheddar is also home to one of Somerset’s biggest outdoor car boot sales – on every Sunday and well worth a visit if you are a bargain hunter.
